Why?

Why does Paquito continue to nap on the street when he has a HUGE yard at home?

The worst part is that he sleeps soundly...these cats are giving me gray hairs!

Missing two cats...

Last night we had a hell of a storm...not just rain wise but with high wind gusts, thunder, and lightning.

This morning I could not find Nico or Elvis...first I thought they were sleeping somewhere but after leaving food out for both and not seeing them show up to eat it...it made me wonder :-(

I looked everywhere without finding my boys...finally this afternoon their hunger got the best of them and they came to eat!

Darn, these cats...were they not advertised as helping us (cat owners)  to lower our blood pressure?  If  I  knew who to sue I would!

This afternoon they finally showed up like nothing had happened!

Cat Food

When I first went into self-isolation I did it when I was already four days into not leaving my house and before my town declared a shelter in place order.  At the time I had a month to a month and a half worth of cat food.

I also had a lot of rice on hand that I figured I could feed them in lieu of their regular cat food. Maybe it was my cooking ??? they really did not care for it!  Another blog I read made mention of the fact that they order their pet food from Chewy.com looked into it but had to think about how I was going to disinfect two 35 lbs bags.

I could not leave them out by the front door for as you know I have had a problem with possums and raccoons in the past.  When I finally decided to pull the trigger on my order they were out of stock. I remember having spotted some at Tractor & Supply in the past.

This is a picture of them at HEB

So I went to order some but they did not have them in stock would have to be ordered for in-store pick-up

Finally, on April 9th I went to HEB and bought a 16 lb bag since the most I can carry is 20 pounds.  I did not open the bag until this past Friday, April 17th ...all I can say is that it's going fast.

Thank goodness I never had children or they would be FAT children...now I can understand why parents give their kids junk food, candy, etc...anything so they will leave them alone...guilty as charged!

Paquito napping in the street

I went looking for Paquito after he failed to come to eat his breakfast. Looked in his usual hiding places then I thought...No, he wouldn't be...sure enough with all the land my mother's house sits on he was asleep by the street side of the fence!

By the time my silly cellphone turned on, he was awake...

It worries me when he does this as there are a lot of stray dogs in the county and when he falls asleep...he drifts into a deep slumber and they could attack him.

Yesterday they ran what was supposed to be a feel-good story in the evening news.  It was about an animal shelter in Florida that had adopted out all of the dogs and cats in its care.  If anything it saddened me as so many people have lost their jobs and unfortunately, many more will continue to do so and when that happens people will barely be able to afford food for themselves and their family and these poor animals will once again be homeless, hungry and roaming the streets.

The boys and Katie have been enjoying the wonderful temperatures and sunning themselves...though for some reason I can not find the pictures of the other cats...will post them at another time :-(

Thank you for reading Walter's World.

Elvis has declared Eminent Domain

We have been having a lot of rain lately and it has been cold. Since Elvis decided to declare Eminent Domain over the other cats' cuchas along with the inside of the trash can I was not worried about him.

I opened the front door to see how much rain was falling when I saw a wet and shivering Elvis but had to close the door on him as I do not want him inside the house. Why was he out in the rain when he has where to ride it out?

The boys, on the other hand, do not. They won't even go near their former cuchas...heck they won't even go near Elvis. In some ways, I feel sorry for him as he is constantly being shunned. Only Katie, if she is hungry, will forget she dislikes him and goes to eat out of his bowl.  Sometimes he attacks her other times he lets her. This afternoon they had a minor encounter but neither one hurt one another.

Last night I let Paquito and Nico sleep in the mudroom.  I tried to get Katie to come in but she wouldn't do it. Would you believe Elvis was whining by the side door wanting to be let in?

Paquito and a fat Nico :-)
