Yesterday Wednesday, March 30, 2022, we had some very intense winds practically all day. I usually feed the cats between 8:00 to 9:00 a.m. but I could not even open the kitchen door due to the 44 mph plus wind gusts.
When the winds finally died down to the 20 mph range I was able to go outside but was short two cats...Nicolás and Donald. Did not worry they are full-grown cats who are capable of hunting for their own food.
In a comment in my prior post, I mentioned that Luna had moved her kittens to the old water heater closet. Since I have been feeding the cats on top of dad's old car since the old washing machine is where I have the bigger winter cucha I saw her eating and made a dash to place a little cardboard box and placed the kitties inside. They were crying, so tiny, with their little eyes closed.
They look a lot bigger than they actually are. |
I was worried about them because they kept on crying and Luna did not know how to quiet them down. I had flashbacks of Molly and her cats crying and she not feeding them leaving them to starve under the kitchen crawl space.
I would later go see how they were doing but found that Luna had removed them from the box and put them farther into the water heater closet so I could not see them much less reach them.
This morning Donald was back but there was no sign of Nicolás. He usually sleeps in the garage/carport as I only bring him into the kitchen when it is very cold outside. I was about to walk to the garage when he came out from behind it but he had a hard time walking as he had an injured front paw probably from the prickly cacti.
I walked toward him to pick him up and bring him inside but he demanded to be put down...so I did and let him come in on his own. For someone that has been missing for a day he did not eat much and he went right to his bed and went to sleep. As I am typing this it is 8:12 p.m. and he is still asleep!
This is his injured paw...it looks swollen
