Worried about Nico

I have mentioned in prior posts that I have been worried about Nico since his hair has been shedding a lot and is no longer lush and full.  He has lost weight and when he comes to rub against my leg he feels warm as though he had a fever.

He won't pose for pictures so I got him when he was
napping and he did not like being awaken.
The other day I wet a paper towel and placed it on his head but he did not appreciate it and took off.  I need to take him to the vet but as you know I take the boys to a veterinary in Ciudad Acuña, Coahuila - Mexico across the border from Del Rio, Texas.  I myself go to Mexico when I need to visit the doctor or dentist as I do not have health insurance.

The only problem is that with the asylum seekers they have moved ICE personnel to other border towns to deal with the contingency, therefore, the lines to cross the border back to the USA take over an hour but really closer to two hours.

He has not lost his appetite and for all practical purposes does not seems otherwise affected.

Katie had her kittens

Katie has not been hanging around the house for long. The only time I see her is if I happen to be washing dishes since I place the cat food on top of the old washing machine that rests close to the kitchen window in the back porch or if I happen to be outside.

She does come to eat and drink water and for the past two days, I have noticed that both Sonny, as well as Paquito, keep on sniffing her rear end.  Do not know what that means but left it at that.

Yesterday afternoon, when she was eating Sonny, would not stop with the sniffing.  Later I went to hang my socks not knowing she was still eating and when she saw me she took off running and I noticed she no longer had that girth around her belly.

This morning she came to eat so I grabbed the phone to take her picture but this photo does not show her new svelte self. Katie looks a lot like Nico but has no tail and runs like a bunny.

Her kittens are probably in the vacant lot next to my mother's property that I own and that is covered with vegetation (mesquite trees, bushes and weeds).

Feisty crows

A few days ago I was wheeling the garbage can to the gate when I kept on hearing this high pitch noise coming from the trees across the street. Then I see my one-eye jack Paquito actually looking both ways before crossing the street back to our house with a blackbird in his mouth.

The bird was still alive and all these black birds which I believe were crows were chasing him around. I yelled at him to drop the bird but of course, he never listens to me.  By now Nico and Sonny came to check out the noise and then Nico took the bird away from him and ran off with a swarm of crows following him.

The birds were getting really loud and I was afraid they were going to attack Nico.  Ran inside for my cellphone to take a video but so far have not had any luck uploading it but I will keep on trying.

Paquito got tired of seeing Nico eat the prey "he" had caught and took it away from him.  All the time the crows were getting worked up.

You can not see the crows in the trees but there were plenty of them.

Sonny was not going to be left out of the feast and he soon joined them.

He moves the crow around but unfortunately, it was already dead.

After their snack, the boys decide to relax and chill  :-(

Nooooooooooooo!!!!!!!!!

Why do I have the worst luck?

I was outside transferring water around in my primitive rain catchment system and did not see Katie who blends into the landscape taking a nap and almost stepped on her.  She has no tail and runs like a bunny.  I scared her and she took off like lighting...that is when I noticed she had a wide girth around her belly...oh no...she is preggers!!!

She is the latest that along with a grayish cat has decided to take up residence at mom's house.  I have no idea how I am going to gain her trust so I can trap her and take her to be fixed :-(
