How did I miss this?

I have mentioned how fat Paquito, Nico, and Katie were getting on several posts going back months.  I was outside two or three days ago when I saw Katie under dad's old car.  That is nothing new as that is where she naps during the day.

I was wearing my old glasses but I said to myself...why does she look so tiny?  I walked closer to the car but when I bent down my head started spinning...darn vertigo!  It was just her.

Later in the afternoon, as I walked to the back yard to feed the cats I saw two kittens about five or six weeks old one with a bunny tail like his mother but when they saw me they went up under the car carriage.

When did she have her babies?  How did I miss this?  The last litter she had was well over a year ago. I had begun to believe that the neighbor had taken her to be fixed.  You know she did not only have two kittens...I am waiting for the other shoe to drop.  Rob, if you are reading this...your saying came to mind..." the gift that keeps on giving" :-(

Thank you for visiting Walter's World.

  1. They have a Spay and Neuter program every year in our area as a way to cut down on the number of strays. The cost is picked up by the municipality and the animals are released as a way to fight the rodents.

    1. You are very fortunate Val Verde County does not offer anything not even an Animal Control Center. The City of Del Rio has one but will not take animals that do not reside within its city limits.

Even the few animal rescue groups will not come to pick up animals in the county unless they deem it an emergency. I have tried to gain Katie's trust for more than a year now but for some reason, she is afraid of me.

I do not mind paying to get her fixed but right now the border with Mexico is closed and that is where I have taken my boy cats and their mother to be fixed.

Del Rio vets charge $220.00 whereas Mexican vets the cost is shy of USD 100.00. With their devaluated currency it would be in the USD 80.00 range a small price to pay to keep her from having more litters.
