Paquito - Part II

While some of my friends read my main blog sporadically very few read this one. That is why I was surprised when one of my friends called to inquire about Paquito and if I ever found him since I had not mentioned his disappearance the last time we spoke.

Actually, after missing all day Sunday he showed up Monday morning...well at least his loud meows became audible as I was walking to the garage/carport that is in the next lot. His high pitch meows were coming from the roof but I could not see him. I called out to him but it seems he was trapped in an area that joins the kitchen to the main house (the kitchen was a later addition).

I was running late as I had a doctor's appointment and there is no way I was going to be able to get on a ladder and climb up on the roof to get him down. The other cats were soon up on the roof as well...I suppose for moral support?

If you are new to this blog you may not know that Paquito had to have one of his eyes removed when he was a kitten his one good eye has a lot of secretions that have to be removed several times a day along with getting daily eye drops. My best guess is that since he went missing his secretions had shut his eye and he could not see where he was or how to get out of there. I was just glad that he was back and he was alive.

When I came back out he had managed to come out of where he was trapped possibly by the sound of the other cats. I grabbed my step stool and called out to him to come to the lower portion of the roof and he followed my voice commands because I could see his eye was shut as I managed to grab him and bring him down.

Took him inside and washed his eye, I also grabbed several baby wipes to clean his coat as he was filthy!  I fed him but to my surprise, he barely ate something very rare for my fat boy!  I then looked down at my sweater and had to change it as well. Barely made my doctor's appointment on time but at least my Paquito is back home :-)

Thank you for visiting Walter's World.

  2. Glad Paquito is back. He probably was trapped on the roof because he could not see. By being trapped he was not eating. By not eating his stomach was shrinking making it impossible for him to overeat. A little at a time he'll be back to his old self.
    Be Safe and Merry Christmas.

    It's about time.

    1. Rick, Paquito was only missing for a day and a half so I do not think there was any stomach shrinking involved. By the next day he went back to eating not only his food but the other cats as well.

He was not on the roof the whole time, he must have been somewhere else as he would have heard me calling out to him or I would have heard his high pitch meows.
