Walter is visiting

We have had a lot of rain this month and unfortunately that means knee deep mud and poop at Walter's corral.  Last Tuesday I was surprised when I saw him in mom's yard as Pedrito never barked to alert us of his presence or the presence of the person that brought him.

It does not matter, we were very happy to see him even though I can not say the same for Ralph and Pedrito :D

Even though I have been trying to keep up with the yard, his help is greatly needed and appreciated. He has food, water, shade and lots of place to roam. Two days later Dulcinea joined him.

I can't help but think that she came from a bad situation and being with Walter's owner's family is an improvement.  For those not familiar with the blog, she was bought by Walter's owner's daughter and son-in-law.  They do a way better job of looking after her needs than Ramon (made up name for his owner) does of Walter's.

She is very destructive and has tried on several occasions to tip over the heavy garbage container. I wonder if that is what she had to do when she was with her prior family?  She also turns over potted plants and tries to get into small places instead of staying in the grassy areas (green weeds).

Ramon came to take Dulcinea home and Pedrito barked at him and he did not like it.  I came out right away as I was afraid he would try to kick him...I do not like that man!

I said bye to Dulcinea and Walter and Ramon replied...I am only taking her, I will leave you Walter! There was no...thank you for having them, can Walter stay a couple more days?  Nothing...oh well, I guess he was never taught manners.

Pedrito got a wild hair and started following and pestering Walter. Wish I had had a video camera to capture Walter having had enough of him and chasing him around the yard...lol, that was funny! That settled him down real fast :)

I have some pictures that I will have to upload later as I did not download them from my camera yet.

Ralph is getting a mean streak in him and scratched me around the ankle because I got him down from mom's recliner in the porch...but Shhhhhh...don't tell mom!  The scratch marks lasted about two weeks and are finally healing.

I went by Church's last week and saw about five cats who had obviously been dumpster diving and were happily napping.  I told Ralph that if he did not change his attitude he would be joining them soon (kidding)...jajajajajaja!

I have not forgotten about Walter

No guys, I have not forgotten about Walter.  For good or for bad all things remain the same with him. Since my bout with the flu these past two weeks I mainly have limited myself to checking in on him from the kitchen window. I have gone a couple of times to offer him water which of course he refuses.

His owner and Dulcinea's owner must go in on the hay because they recently bought another one...if only they would actually feed it to him.  Dulcinea's owner got her a brand spanking new aluminum trash can where he keeps her horse pellets which she is fed in the afternoons.

You can see the hay in back of the pick-up

Poor Walter just looks at her eat as they don't bother to feed him at the same time.  I really do not like to go when Pedrito is here because he follows me and gets possessive if I pet Walter. He has tried to bite his face until I swatted him in the butt and yelled at him.

I am glad his owner did not see that or he might not be willing to bring Walter to graze or worst yet, he might retaliate against Pedrito.

The one thing I am glad of is that at least he has Dulcinea to keep him company.

Cat Haven

This weekend has been beautiful, we finally got to see the sun and Walter has been here the whole time.

Yesterday little Ralph finally made an appearance.  I was getting worried about him! Goodness he looks a little on the hefty side, at least I know someone has been feeding him :D

Even though we do not own any cats...mother's house is a favorite destination for all the neighborhood's strays.  We now have a rather different looking white cat with a black tail and black ears.  Every time I see her I never happen to have my camera on me.

Still running off that bully gray cat that beat up Ralph but he never learns.....grrrrrrr!!!!  Yesterday there was this black cat that for some reason I think could be Ralph's brother stretching to reach the water bucket I set out for Walter.  I did not run him off as I will never deny an animal a drink of water.

Here are some pictures I took back on December 27th of Ralph and Dulcinea.  In this first one he appears to be checking HER out.

In this other one, it appears she is checking HIM out :)

Had not really noticed until right now but their coloring is similiar.

Back in his nasty corral

I do not know what is wrong with his owners.  Here I thought they finally were being conscientious and looking after his well being.  Sunday afternoon they came and got him and I figured they would bring him back after they fed him dinner since rain was in the forecast.

No...they did not and though it did not pour, it drizzled and there he was in that damp corral with that nasty bacterial mud up to his ankles.

The cold front came in last night and today it has drizzled and rained all evening.  If they do not want to bring him back here fine but why do they not get him out of that nasty corral?

Dulcinea though not in the corral did not fair any better in the cold and damp evening.

Ralph has been coming and eating at least one meal daily except for today.  Cats do not like rain...hope he is in a warm place tonight.

He misses Dulcinea

Walter has been here since Monday which is just fine by us.  Tuesday, I looked out the window at 7:00 a.m. and he was here so I knew he had spent the night.  Around 9:30 a.m. I could not find him anywhere so walked to his corral and found him in the eastern end of it that sits on higher ground and thus not as muddy.

I was glad to see that he was eating his hay but not too happy that he was once again in that filthy corral.  Turned out I did not have to worry about that, as an hour later he was back in our yard.

Why don't they clean this?  Was glad they gave him the opportunity to come over until it dries out.

You would think he would be happy here like he seems to be when they bring him to mom's house. However, he wasn't....he missed Dulcinea and hung out by his corral but on our side of the property.

Yesterday she was tied to the back of the shed and he stayed there practically all day except to come get a drink of water once in a while.  Same thing at night...he spent it by the fence overlooking his corral as he watched over her...how romantic :)

A horse, a mare and a rooster

On one occasion that Walter happened to be grazing at our house, some movement in the corral caught my eye. Could not make out what it was, so went to investigate.  To my surprise it was a pretty mare whom I have named Dulcinea.

She is a good eater too, she "mowed" their weeds well.  Isn't she a pretty little thing?

She was not inside the corral but from our house it appeared like she was.  Why would his owner who can not even take care of Walter bring another horse to the equation?  I would later learn from observation not because anyone told me...that the mare belongs to a couple that are currently living with him.

Though they do not share the corral at least Walter now has female company and someone to pass the time with.

That crazy rooster is their chaperon :)

At least she is not in that filthy corral.  Her owner cleans up after her as well as has water and shade made available from that trailer.

The rooster is a hoot, he follows Walter around as he grazes.

 The happy couple...

Thank you for visiting Walter's blog.
