We have had a lot of rain this month and unfortunately that means knee deep mud and poop at Walter's corral. Last Tuesday I was surprised when I saw him in mom's yard as Pedrito never barked to alert us of his presence or the presence of the person that brought him.
It does not matter, we were very happy to see him even though I can not say the same for Ralph and Pedrito :D
Even though I have been trying to keep up with the yard, his help is greatly needed and appreciated. He has food, water, shade and lots of place to roam. Two days later Dulcinea joined him.
I can't help but think that she came from a bad situation and being with Walter's owner's family is an improvement. For those not familiar with the blog, she was bought by Walter's owner's daughter and son-in-law. They do a way better job of looking after her needs than Ramon (made up name for his owner) does of Walter's.
She is very destructive and has tried on several occasions to tip over the heavy garbage container. I wonder if that is what she had to do when she was with her prior family? She also turns over potted plants and tries to get into small places instead of staying in the grassy areas (green weeds).
Ramon came to take Dulcinea home and Pedrito barked at him and he did not like it. I came out right away as I was afraid he would try to kick him...I do not like that man!
I said bye to Dulcinea and Walter and Ramon replied...I am only taking her, I will leave you Walter! There was no...thank you for having them, can Walter stay a couple more days? Nothing...oh well, I guess he was never taught manners.
Pedrito got a wild hair and started following and pestering Walter. Wish I had had a video camera to capture Walter having had enough of him and chasing him around the yard...lol, that was funny! That settled him down real fast :)
I have some pictures that I will have to upload later as I did not download them from my camera yet.
Ralph is getting a mean streak in him and scratched me around the ankle because I got him down from mom's recliner in the porch...but Shhhhhh...don't tell mom! The scratch marks lasted about two weeks and are finally healing.
I went by Church's last week and saw about five cats who had obviously been dumpster diving and were happily napping. I told Ralph that if he did not change his attitude he would be joining them soon (kidding)...jajajajajaja!

Back to the old shenanigans
Little Walter's owners are back to the same old shenanigans of the past. No water, little food and knee deep in poop.
Even with Dulcinea close by Walter looks sad and rightly so!

When he spent nearly two weeks here earlier this year...his owner tied this dirty ice chest to a corral post so he could feed him without having to come into our property. I had the flu at the time and could not clean it for him. I think the sun has helped bleach it.
I plan on giving it a good cleaning and filling it up with water for the upcoming hot summer months. Ralph and Pedrito wont let me go visit him without tagging along, lol :)
He came by the other day to graze, this time without Dulcinea. However, with the recent rains the weeds have gone crazy and I sure could use his help once more.
I was surprised he was here as Pedrito throws a fit anytime any animal or person comes into the property (except for his stray friends). Could it be that he has finally warmed up to Walter?

Cold and wet
It has been cold for this part of the world and unfortunately we have had rain as well. I say unfortunately because Walter's corral becomes a muddy mess and I hate seeing him in that cold damp feces laden jail cell he calls home :(
Look how dirty he is, full of mud and crap!
It seems I can not go anywhere without Ralph and Pedrito following me. Neither one of them like that I go see Walter or that I pet him.
Had to once again have a talk with Pedrito because he started barking at him. Dumb dog...Walter is in his corral in his owners property!

They busted his face :(
Ralph jumps on the old washing machine outside the kitchen window as soon as he hears activity. I do not always have my glasses on in the morning but I noticed there was something on his face.
He goes crazy every time he sees food and all he wants to do is start eating, therefore I could not get a good look at him.
They got his little head and ear as well...though it does not show up very well in this picture.
When I finally saw his face...I was furious! I knew what cat had done this to my baby. He is a big old ugly gray cat that likes to bully all the cats in the neighborhood. He knows I dislike him as I am constantly running him off.
His little face has since healed. Now that Walter has been coming over more frequently...he doesn't seem as afraid of him as he once was but he still keeps his distance :)

He goes by many aliases
This morning I got up early as I had a lot of errands to run. Went to go check on him and he had little water and no one had fed him yet. I offered him some water but stubborn Walter refused to drink it.
Kept an eye out for him from the kitchen window but no one had fed him and it was noon. I went and cut him some more green grass and slowly feed it to him but not without first checking to see if his owners were home...they weren't, at least the cars were not there.
I was busy with other stuff and I was not able to make it to Sutherlands until after they had closed so decided to go to Walmart on a Saturday evening! am I crazy? Thankfully it was not crowded. I bought him some horse pellets for senior horses.
Ran into my neighbors...think I have mentioned them...they are the ones that feed Ralph and his pal the dog because their owner never does. We got to talking about Ralph and it turns out they named him Chico!
My neighbor said that she takes her daughter to the bus stop because it is still dark and when she opens the door both the cat and his pal the dog are by the front door waiting to be fed. She said "they think this is McDonald's and they can be fed 24 hours"...we had a good laugh about it.
Told her I had not seen Ralph or Chico in days. She says he visits a lot of homes...jajajaja...no wonder my mother saw him and said "He is fat, I know you have been feeding him". Yep, he looks like he has put on some weigh :)
He did love his first canned meal though.

No water / 100 degrees / Corn Flakes
Post for September 10, 2014
Last night Ralph and I came by to feed Walter. I am almost an expert at looking at the way his water barrel is sitting to be able to tell if it is almost empty...it looked like that was the case.
Like I mentioned on another post I have not been able to go buy him more horse pellets. So I gave him corn flakes which he devoured.
Ralph tried to get a little too close and Walter turned around and gave him a menacing look...he moved his head like he was going to head butt him. Ralph the coward quickly retreated to a safe distance....jajajaja!
Then he decided he was better off in terra firma,
Today it was hot, it got to 100 degrees and he was without water from his worthless owners all day.
His owner was even home but he ignored the down barrel until late that evening. I knew he was thirsty because he actually drank the gallons of water that I took him. In total he drank 10.5 gallons throughout the day.

Fed twice in one day!
Like I mentioned on my main blog, I had a hard time going to sleep and did not wake up until 1:30 p.m. Glad I fed Walter last night because the darn kid never did.
I was not concerned about him having food as I was him having water. It reached 102 degrees today. It wasn't until 1:55 p.m. that I saw someone by the corral. I could not make out if it was that worthless teenager or someone else. I waited a while and then walked over to confirm it at 2:10 p.m. Sure enough someone uprighted his barrel, filled it up and gave him hay.
Went back home glad to see he was taken care of. This evening Ralph and I paid him another visit.
To our surprise someone had fed him again! Believe me this seldom happens.
They even filled up his barrel once more.
Walter prefers to eat and ignores the world around him when he does. This evening he quit eating and came to the fence line to be petted and photographed for his blog :)
His poor skin feels so rough from the sun but he is still a handsome lad.
Ralph got a little closer to the fence line, in fact I almost fell on top of him as I did not know he was behind me...I thought he had stayed looking at Walter from the same location as yesterday.
When Walter went to get a drink I knew he had enough water to get him by until tomorrow which once again will be in the 102 degree range.
Thank you for visiting little Walter's blog.
