Flooded Corral

Have not done an update on Walter in a while, mainly because there is no change and it pains me to have to rehash it.  He is still tied to a tire with cement, with no shelter and NO WATER!  They do feed him but do they think he is a camel?

My mother does not want me to water him because she thinks his owner is going to come tell me off. I told her that if he did (doubtful) I would tell him if he preferred I watered him or the Sheriff.  I hate that man!

This week it has not been my leg but my arms, the joint pain is killing me ( I suffer from Fibromyositis).  I have not been able to lift them above my head.  It has been difficult to wash my hair.  Since I could not carry a gallon of water, I carried two half gallons to balance myself out.

Unfortunately, I was unable to water him yesterday or today when the temperatures have been in the 80's and he is not sheltered from the sun.  With all those able bodied people living there, why doesn't anyone care about his welfare?

Dulcinea is not fairing much better.  Her owner filled up her barrel but I guess he forgot to turn the spigot off and flooded the corral.  Now she is in a pile of mud and only has a little space that sits higher and is the only dry spot. None of these worthless people should be allowed to be pet owners.

I am concerned that Dulcinea has a dead fetus. That colt has not been born yet and it has been well over a year that she has been pregnant.

No water / 100 degrees / Corn Flakes

Post for September 10, 2014

Last night Ralph and I came by to feed Walter.  I am almost an expert at looking at the way his water barrel is sitting to be able to tell if it is almost empty...it looked like that was the case.

Like I mentioned on another post I have not been able to go buy him more horse pellets. So I gave him corn flakes which he devoured.

Ralph tried to get a little too close and Walter turned around and gave him a menacing look...he moved his head like he was going to head butt him. Ralph the coward quickly retreated to a safe distance....jajajaja!

Then he decided he was better off in terra firma,

Today it was hot, it got to 100 degrees and he was without water from his worthless owners all day.

His owner was even home but he ignored the down barrel until late that evening. I knew he was thirsty because he actually drank the gallons of water that I took him.  In total he drank 10.5 gallons throughout the day.

Walter meets Ralph

I feel so bad for not making more trips during the day to check-up on Walter.  Late this afternoon I came outside and Walter immediately saw me and began moving side to side in desperation...I already knew what that meant :-(

Though I have gallon milk jugs outside, I came inside and filled up two with fresh cool water.  Just as I thought, here it reached 101 degrees and that worthless teenager didn't even bother to check on him or fill his water barrel.

For those new to Walter's blog I have back problems and if that was not enough...I recently developed severe pain in my legs.

To get to Walter's corral I have to go through a rocky area as well as through some prickly plants to avoid been seen by his owners. Today I had a bodyguard whom I have named Ralph and who also wanted to meet Walter :)

I can only carry two gallons at a time and he got tired of following me back and forth, so he decided to wait for me as he kept an eye on Walter.

If this was a video you could see little Walter
moving his head back and forth.

At first he kept his distance as he watched me talking to Walter and petting him. After a while he got closer.  Little Walter did not seem to pay much attention to Ralph.

When I went to get his horse pellets I saw my neighbor walking her dog.  She is the one that told me she has to feed Ralph and his pal the dog because her worthless neighbors wont feed them.

Needless to say when I got back he was gone...had gone after my neighbor for his second supper.

Mounds of manure

Since school let out I have not seen that teenager once during the day.  Guess he is busy sleeping late in his air conditioned house, watching TV and/or playing video games with his little brother.  Wait, he is sixteen...he is probably on Facebook or on his cell phone talking to equally lazy girls his age.

While Walter is outside in the elements, standing around an ever increasing pile of manure.

What is Walter supposed to do....shovel it?

Walter is a big horse and this is supposed to be his sun shelter...how is he supposed to fit under all this pile of pooh...I would say another word but I am supposed to be a lady!

They finally started to feed him hay out of the new wet bale but as usual...they forgot to give him water.  No one has bothered to even pick up the barrel off of the ground since yesterday.

The neighbors that live next to Walter's owners or rather their son or perhaps brother caught me watering him and taking pictures today but I do not really care.

96 degree day

Late yesterday afternoon there were threatening clouds and a lot of wind. Decided to move dad's old car out of the garage in case we got hail and put the Toyota in its place. That is when I saw his owner walking towards the corral carrying a bag of horse pellets on his shoulder.

From my vantage point saw him open up the bag, pour it in a plastic receptacle and then give Walter some along with a portion of hay.  I know he saw me sitting in the car watching him, it did not bother him one bit.  What he forgot was to fill his water barrel...why is it he and the kid always assume it is full?

This afternoon around 1:00 p.m. I went to check on him and he had downed his barrel to let them know it was empty.  They were all home yet no one gave him water.  For those new to the blog...I do not feed or water him on weekends during the day, as I do not want to get caught.

Ran an errand in town and it was terribly hot.  From the road I could see his down barrel.  He was standing beside it like saying "Can't you see I don't have any water?"...I could not stand it, so I filled up some gallon milk jugs and headed for the corral. Poor little Walter, he downed 6.5 gallons.

Had to run another errand this afternoon and gave him two more gallons.  I came home around 8:00 p.m. and nothing had changed.  Last time I went to check on him was 9:05 p.m. and the results were the same...no food, no water on a 96 degree day.

Horse Flies Galore

I was fairly busy today between watering trees and the leaking meter, that I did not get to check on Walter until around 3:00 p.m.  When I did he had no water and he looked hungry.

There was a lot of green grass where the leak was, so pulling it out was easy but first I gave him water.  Right away he drank six gallons.

I kept an eye on him and would bring him water but once you feed him. he wont go for the water...he wants food!  Later on in the evening his worthless owners were home but not a one came to check on him.

His face was covered with horse flies and he could barely keep his eyes open.  He kept on rubbing his face on the concrete fence, so I guess they were biting him too.

Nine o'clock came and went and no water or food.  Came back at 9:50 p.m. and in that interval he was finally fed and watered.

He was so thirsty!

It was early in the afternoon when I looked out the window toward his corral.  I saw him going back and forth kicking up dust and not acting like himself.  Decided to walk over and investigate...he came to the fence to meet me and started moving his head from side to side...a gesture I know well.

First thing I did was look toward his water barrel...saw that it had been moved away from the spigot...that means Walter knocked it down to let his worthless owners know it was empty and the lazy ass teenager only picked it up.

Here he is waiting for me to bring him some more water
as he moves his head from side to side.

Immediately went to fill up some gallon milk jugs and grabbed his green container.  He sucked it dry until he had drank 8.5 gallons at which time we walked away and began eating his hay.  I felt so guilty for not having come by yesterday to check up on him. How can two able bodied men fail to look after their horse and not even provide him with water?  Shameful!

I was filling up milk jugs and hiding them behind this mesquite tree that finally served a purpose, as I did not want to be seen watering him.  After he finished eating he neighed as if saying "woman bring me more water"...I did and he drank two more gallons.

Late in the afternoon I saw a red truck parked by the corral.  Then I saw what appeared to be a woman dressed in red...I knew it was NOT that man's wife as she absolutely hates Walter.  Decided to take a page from mother's "Nosy Rosie" neighbor and started watering the trees.

She appeared to be a teenage girl and she gave him more hay and actually went into the corral, moved his blue barrel under the spigot contraption his owner rigged up and turned on the water.  Could it be his owners were not home?  He has so many vehicles it is hard to tell.

Waited a prudent time and then went to check.  Sure enough she filled his water barrel so much that it spilt over but at least he finally has water and more hay to tie him over until tomorrow.

Thanks for dropping by Walter's.

Being fed and watered every two days now

Yesterday afternoon I had to make a trip to town and came back late.  It was cold so did not bother to offer him water since he always refuses to drink it.  Just fed him.

I did not get to the corral until this afternoon and he had downed his water barrel to let the stupid kid know he needed water but since he was at school... I gave him some.

I have no idea why they put in that piping to his barrel...what purpose does it serve?  It sure isn't to fill it up!

He was agitated moving his head from side to side so I decided to feed him early since the temperatures are suppose to drop tonight near the freezing mark.

Kept an eye on him but no one fed him this afternoon or evening either.  I walked over there to check on the water situation and as I was walking back the kid jogged by the house...I know he saw me but luckily I did not have his green bucket or anything on me to indicate I had fed and watered him.

Took out the trash and once again saw the kid jogging this time by the back of the church but he did not bother to even look Walter's way.  Last time he was fed by his owners was Sunday and prior to that...two days before.

Late this evening decided to give him a little extra because of the cold temperatures and brought him some more water but he refused to drink it.

Grazing on his owner's lot

My back is acting up once more so I have not been able to make my multiple daily trips to the fence line but I have been keeping an eye on him from the kitchen window.

Friday, I saw his owner's truck backing up to the corral and thought perhaps he was going to take him somewhere but that was not the case.  He backed up the truck to unload two bags of horse feed into an old blue water container he keeps just outside of the corral.

Was looking for my binoculars to get a better look but then remembered I had not unpacked them from my trip to the desert yet.  Funny, I could not see Walter so after he left I went to check on him.  They had taken him out of his corral and had him grazing on their weeds.

The same was true for today (Saturday) they had him on the other side of their lot.  This is all good and well since his corral is wet from the recent rains and he needs the exercise but how can it not cross that man's head that Walter needs water to go along with those weeds?

Silly me...if he does not even fill up his water barrel when he is in the corral... why would he make an effort to set another one out and make it available to him?  As much as I would have liked to have watered him, I can not walk unto private property.  Even if I could...there was no way I could carry even one gallon of water with my hurting back.

My poor little guy...he either has food and no water or vice versa or what is worst neither of them.

Thanks for visiting Walter's World.

Simply Shameful!

It has been drizzling and cloudy for the most part this week.  Tonight we are expecting a cold front so I went to check up on my little guy this afternoon.  I took a gallon water jug and his green container just in case and sure enough he drank it up immediately :-(

When I looked in his corral it was obvious why he was so thirsty.  Darn those heartless people especially that worthless kid...though as a 15 or 16 year old he can no longer be called that.  I guess he is now a lazy ass teenager...grrrrrrr!!!!

No water

No food

Karma is a bitch and I hope when both he and his father are old and in a nursing home their care taker "forgets" to feed and water them both.  Believe me it happens and I have seen it with my own eyes as my father was in a nursing home for six years before he passed away.

Who in the heck can not take pity on this little sweet face?

My neglected little guy

When I got back from frolicking in the desert it was raining and though I could see him I did not go visit him.

Tuesday morning I grabbed a gallon of water and walked to his corral...I just had a gut feeling...sure enough he drank it all.  If you have been reading this blog for a while you know Walter would rather eat than drink water.

Came back several times and he ended up drinking 7 gallons....which only made me wonder how long he had been without water!  Damn those worthless owners of his!!!

I still had some horse pellets even though not many since I never bothered to re-stock thinking he had been sold.  He gobbled those up too!

Why oh why do these people even want a horse they do not bother to water or feed?

Back to their old ways

Up early (for me) 7:14 a.m. to put out the trash and open the gate.  Walter was looking at me and moving from side to side...so I go visit him.  No sign they fed him this morning.  I was outside till 10:15 p.m. last night raking mesquite pods and watering the yard.  No one came to see how he was doing...much less fed him.  At least I was able to give him a late supper.

When the sun hit his water barrel...it showed he only had an inch of water...darn kid!

I took him some water but he is back to being stubborn and refused to drink it!  Even when I clearly saw he was trying to get a drink before I showed up with clean fresh water...crazy horse :(

Saw the kid and his brother coming from the nephew's house in their bicycles but they did not even look Walter's way.  It was close to noon and it was hot and miserable outside.  Decided to give him his pellets since it was obvious they were not going to feed him.

This evening they fed him at 8:50 p.m. but I could not tell if they had filled his water barrel.  Today it got to 98 degrees with a heat index in the three digits.  Definitively not a day for an animal to be without water.

Feeling Frustrated

I have not posted in a couple of days mainly because I am angry at Walter's owners, the authorities and yes... even myself...for failing to get him the needed help.

His owner being home Friday had little to no consequence as his water barrel still went unfilled.  The winds have been terrible and yet no one takes off the sharp exposed plastic that has already cut him in the past.  Besides the man went off to wherever he goes and Walter is once again left in the care of that kid.

I am feeding him through another part of the corral so he wont hurt himself.  To make matters worst my back has been killing me and it has been a struggle to carry the gallon milk jugs I use to water him.  How hard can it be to turn on the water?  Obviously too hard for that heartless kid!

Note the water line in the barrel

I have to feed him through here now

Look how sharp and dangerous this is for Walter and yet they don't even make the effort to take it down!

He was not fed Friday night and he went until Saturday afternoon without food.  My hands are tied during the day and all I can do is watch in disgust as this poor animal suffers at the hands of his worthless owners.

While he is always fed his pellets in this dirty ice chest
you will note the kid fed him his little portion of hay
on this side of the corral.

I was surprised that the kid had the hindsight to feed him on this side of the corral as to not injure him but if you click on the picture you will see hundreds of flies on his face...pitiful!

Three sets of eyes

I can not believe that three different sets of eyes...the man that came to feed him yesterday, the kid and then his owner this morning could not see that Walter's water barrel was empty.

I felt so guilty last night for forgetting to go take him some water so this morning I went bright and early only to notice that his owner was home and this time in a white truck...does this man ever go to work?  He had been given hay but he came right up to me as if saying please give me some water! With his owner being home, I could not do that :-(

See all that hay in the background?
Will take a picture at the end of the month and you will see that it hardly ever goes down.
It is just there to keep the sheriff away.
Went into town and when I got back I saw there was an used car with paper plates that his owner was inspecting as I drove by his house.  From the street I could tell that his barrel was now upright and hopefully with water.  Again with him being outside I could not go check it out.

This afternoon we were under severe thunderstorm alerts and while we really need the rain, I was sad because Walter has no shelter from the elements.  We got rain, thunder and lighting but thankfully no hail!

Thank you for dropping by Walter's World.

Morning Feedings?

Once again someone fed Walter this morning.  He was leisurely eating his hay as I paid him my first visit of the day.  I can not actually see inside his water barrel but it was in the same position as yesterday.  On one side he is fed but on the other he is not watered.

As long as I am in Del Rio and I am physically able to do it...I will water him.

It saddens me that the weekend is here and worst yet that it is Spring Break because even though I would like to I can't feed or water him when his family is home.

This morning he drank 4 and a half and this evening 6 and a half gallons of water.

Thank you for visiting Walter's World.
