Paquito is keeping an eye on me

Every morning I open the front door around 6:00 a.m. hoping that it is cool outside. Usually, Paquito is within hearing range and runs towards the front door and I have no choice but to close it. This morning he was joined by Nico.

The sunrise is occurring later so I have to wait to go on my morning walk.  I am tired of having to bring Paquito back as he follows me whining as if he were a dog.  So even though it is early I am feeding the boys before I leave to keep them entertained as I make a dash for the gate.

Paquito thinks it's funny to hide by the pomegranate tree as he lays on the fence awaiting my arrival to pounce on me.  I guess it is his way of getting even with me.

Can you see him?  Neither can I, lol :)

As I get closer and just because he does this to me daily I know he is there.

Here is my one-eyed Jack knowing I am wise to him.

Met another friend on the trail

Have not had a chance to update the blog in a while. The boys are doing well though I am pissed off at Sonny who has been bullying Katie's kittens and keeping them from eating.

Decided to set up another feeding station apart from the one on top of the old washing machine.  I now have one on the porch on the northern part of the house and where I feed the boys first. After they finish I feed Katie and her brood at the old location.

Paquito keeps on hampering my efforts to go for an early morning walk.  He follows me as he cries like someone was hurting him and I have to keep bringing him back.

Yesterday this little dog that has been keeping an eye on me came to the walking trail.  I see him every day, he has taken up shop by Walter's former corral.  Why is it that strays are attracted to me?  He is such a cute little dog who actually looks like a lamb.

Walter's former owner is horrible human being and obviously is not going to feed this poor little stray much less water him...he barely waters the two horses he currently has in the corral.

The good thing is that in the far end of this street is a pond where he can drink water.  I would love to feed and water him but he would end up chasing and perhaps hurting my boys.  Such a shame we do not have a dog and cat shelter for Val Verde County strays :-(

Meet Frank...

I had not seen the cat I met on the walking trail in a couple of days.  I had been there for about 20 minutes when he finally made an appearance by greeting me as I approached.

It was time I gave him a name so I decided to call him Frank.  No particular reason he just looks like Frank.

Frank's right eye shows signs of a long time
injury but other than that he is fine.

Made a short video.

Paquito has been a bad boy...

Post for Monday - September 2, 2019

Even without a mowed lawn our neighbor's chickens, chicks and roosters like to come to our yard, I suppose to eat worms or whatever as I do not know what poultry eat.

This little hen kept on making a lot of noise and going back and forth as if she was looking for something.

A little while later I saw Paquito coming from the back of the garage and being joined by Nico and Sonny who wanted to know what he was carrying in his mouth.

My first thought was...oh no another little bird and scolded him... but it was too late it was dead. Then he saw and heard the Momma hen and hid behind one of the trash cans that serve as my water catchment without letting go of his prey.

Later when I had a chance to zoom in on the picture, it hit me that it was not a bird but a baby chick and his mother was looking for him or her. I hate it when he does things like this :-(

Poor little momma hen she lost her young one!

Met new friends on the trail

Blog Post for Saturday - August 31, 2019

After I thought I had gotten away from Paquito he followed me down the street meowing despite me urging him to go back home.  I kept right on walking as it was Saturday at 7:30 a.m. and there was hardly any traffic.

My new friend did not show up but some other wildlife did.  I was not wearing my glasses so I could not make out from the distance what they were as they were closer to the other street than to the walking trail.

If you look hard they are in the middle
of the picture to the back.
After a while, they came closer as they were eating something or the other.

Finally, I realized it was three turkeys.

On Saturday, I actually walked for an hour since I got an early start and at least during the morning it was 77 degrees with a cool breeze to go with it.
